How much it costs to serve customers on WhatsApp

Three different bills often get mixed into one: the app, the platform and what Meta charges. Here they're separated, with the amounts in plain sight.

The WhatsApp Business app is free. What it doesn't do is team-based customer service: the number is tied to one phone, with no queue, no history per agent and no reports. What's paid is what solves that. And if you use the official API, Meta charges per conversation, separately from the platform.

What changes from one plan to the next

Basic, US$39

  • Several agents on the same number, each with their own login and transfers between them.
  • Shared inbox, history, search, tags, quick replies and internal notes.
  • Real-time summary dashboard and internal team chat.
  • Doesn't include scheduling, bot, AI, sales funnel or advanced reports.

Basic + AI, US$79

  • Everything in Basic, plus an AI agent that answers prices, hours, address and questions, day and night.
  • 250 AI conversations per month included; understands voice messages.
  • The AI learns from your knowledge base: prices, rules and hours.
  • Doesn't include scheduling or payments: anyone who wants to book or pay is handed off to the team by the AI.

✅ Professional, US$99

  • Online scheduling: customers book on their own, with reminders and confirmation.
  • AI agent that answers, books and charges, with 400 conversations per month included.
  • Payment links in the conversation, with reminders and recurring billing. Automatic confirmation is currently integrated with Brazilian payment methods.
  • Sales funnel, departments, FAQ bot, reports and SLA, broadcasts.

Enterprise adds unlimited numbers and agents, AI up to 1,500 conversations per month, sentiment analysis, audit log, public API and webhooks.

What's never charged

  • Per message. No plan has a cost per message sent or received.
  • Per agent, within the plan. Adding one more person to the team doesn't change your monthly fee as long as it fits within the plan's limit.
  • Markup on the official API. What Meta charges per conversation, you pay directly to Meta, with no resale by us.
  • Setup fee. There's no paid implementation or lock-in contract, and the 14-day trial doesn't require a credit card.

And what Meta charges for the official API

  • Billing is per conversation started, not per individual message.
  • The amount varies by category of the message and by the country of the recipient, so there's no single price that works for everyone.
  • The one who bills you is Meta. At Atendize, that bill goes directly to Meta.
  • You don't need the official API for team-based customer service. It comes in when the goal is broadcasting at scale under official rules.

Meta's rate table changes fairly often and varies by country. Confirm the current amounts in Meta's official documentation before finalizing a budget. This page explains how the bill is put together; it doesn't replace Meta's table.

Frequently asked questions

Is WhatsApp for business paid?

The WhatsApp Business app is free to download and use. What it doesn't do is team-based customer service: each number is tied to one phone, with no queue, no history per agent and no reports. What's paid is what comes after that, the platform that puts several agents on the same number, and, if you choose the official API, what Meta charges per conversation. Here the platform starts at US$39 per month.

How much does the official WhatsApp API cost?

It's Meta that charges for the official API, not the platform. Billing is per conversation started, and the amount varies by message category and the recipient's country, so there's no single price. At Atendize, you pay that cost directly to Meta, with no resale and no markup from us. Check Meta's current rate table before budgeting, because it changes.

How much does Atendize cost?

There are four plans. Basic at US$39 per month, with one number and up to three agents. Basic + AI at US$79 per month, which adds an AI agent that answers prices, hours and questions, without scheduling or payments. Professional at US$99 per month, which adds online scheduling, an AI agent that books appointments, payment links in the conversation, sales funnel, departments and reports. Enterprise at US$199 per month, with unlimited numbers and agents. On the annual plan you pay for ten months: US$390, US$790, US$990 and US$1.990.

Do you charge per message sent?

No. No plan has a per-message cost. If you use the official API for broadcasts, the per-conversation cost belongs to Meta and goes directly to Meta.

Does the price go up when I add an agent?

Not per head. Each plan already includes a number of agents: three on Basic and Basic + AI, ten on Professional and unlimited on Enterprise. Your price only changes if you need to move up to the next plan. If you want to see that math side by side with per-seat pricing, it's in per-account pricing, not per agent.

Does the free trial require a credit card?

No. It's 14 days free with no credit card, and I set up scheduling, payments and the AI with you during the trial.
